“Genre-fluid dj”
I’m Henry — "DJ Henry Eau" — a genre-fluid DJ and electronic music/beat producer based on the East End of Long Island. I spend my weekends and weeknights crafting nights across the North Fork, Shelter Island, the Hamptons, and the greater NY area. My approach to DJing comes from a mix of classical piano training, jazz-band performance, turntablism, and years of producing electronic music. I think about DJing with a musician’s precision, but I like to improvise like I’m in a jam session.
The way I listen to music really shapes how I play. I’m always paying attention to harmonic movement, groove, texture, emotional tone — all the stuff that’s happening underneath the surface of a track. I’m constantly taking note when old samples show up in new songs, clever covers or remixes are released, or even when rappers borrow rhythmic cadences from each other. Those little connections help me build mixes that travel across eras and genres without losing cohesion
Crowd reading and dance-floor psychology are a huge part of how I DJ. Whether it’s a packed late-night venue or a low-key daytime crowd, I’m always tracking micro-shifts in energy — body language, chatter, tension, release, attention. I’m constantly in conversation with the room. Something I’ve honed over years of nightlife gigs, weddings, and private events is being tuned in to these small shifts in energy, how people are moving, when the crowd wants a push, or when they need a moment to breathe. That sense of dance-floor and crowd psychology helps me warm up a room on the right foot, lean into nostalgia at the perfect time, or take things up a level when the energy is just about to peak. My goal is always to guide the room through an experience, not just play records.
In the end, everything I do blends technical skill, musical insight, and emotional intuition into sets that feel cohesive, responsive, and memorable.
Because the way in which I approach the craft of DJing is rooted in these fundamental principles, I've learned to adapt to many different situations, styles of music, and types of events. My focus in event types are in four main areas: nightlife, “day club”/lounge venues, private events, and weddings.

Nightlife (Bar/Club Night)
When I’m playing late night sets, I’m focused on flow, tension, and pacing — holding a room, building anticipation, and knowing exactly when to shift gears. My range is pretty wide here. I play an open format lane: soul, R&B, funk, disco, Latin pop, reggaeton, alt-R&B, deep-cut hip-hop, modern trap, house/dance, and EDM peaks when the energy calls for it.
My background in classical, jazz, and electronic music production helps me mix with a strong sense of phrasing and musical direction. But the real key in nightlife is understanding dance-floor psychology — when to ride a groove, when to disrupt it, when to drop something nostalgic, and when to surprise the room. I’m always watching the micro-signals: who’s leaning in, who’s drifting, where the energy is pooling, how conversations shift.
My turntablism background adds texture when I want it, and my production experience keeps transitions smooth, intentional, and story-driven. If your venue wants a DJ who can elevate a room without being predictable, that’s where I shine.
"Day Club" / Lounge Vibes
Another side of my djing world is the daytime side of DJing — the “day-club” - elevated and relaxed lane. I regularly DJ at North Fork wineries that call for energy that sits somewhere between a chill hang and a low-key groove.
These sets are all about reading the room in a different way: social energy instead of dance energy, pacing conversations, not dance floors, giving people a vibe they can live in for hours, creating lift without ever overwhelming the space.
I mix soul, nu-disco, downtempo, house, global rhythms, alt-R&B, modern indie, Balearic textures — anything with warmth, groove, melody, and movement. It's that “sun kissing the patio, rosé flowing, people vibing” kind of sound. I’ve held a residency at Bridge Lane Tasting Room in Matittuck, NY every season for the last 8 years playing this style.
Daytime sets require a more subtle kind of psychology. You’re reading posture, chatter level, foot taps, table energy, not a packed dance floor. You have to create momentum without pushing too hard. Over the years, I’ve become really comfortable and adept at dialing in that atmosphere — making the space feel intentional, elevated, and relaxed at the same time.
It’s become one of my favorite types of gigs because it blends the hospitality side of DJing with musical storytelling and slow-burn groove building.
Weddings
Weddings are where experience from the other three event types really culminate and show the value of being a well rounded DJ. Weddings are all about emotion and intention, so I take a very different approach — still intuitive, but with more focus on timing, communication, and making the night feel personal. My range really helps here: I can move between classic crowd-pleasers, soulful staples, Latin rhythms, sing-along pop, modern R&B, and late-night hip hop or dance moments depending on the vibe you want.
My musical background helps me build emotional arcs throughout the night — easing into cocktail hour, warming up dinner, knowing when to “pull” everyone onto the dance floor, and keeping all ages involved. Crowd reading becomes even more important here; I’m always watching for the songs that deepen engagement or the ones that help reset the energy.
The experience gained from the diversity of nightlife gigs, "day club" events, and client driven private parties really shine here. The more relaxed and conversation driven events help inform the early parts of a wedding - cocktail hours and dinners, while playing venue gigs keep me in touch with living and breathing dance floors for the later parts of the night.
Couples tell me they appreciate my calm, my communication, and the way their wedding soundtrack ends up feeling like a natural extension of their personalities and story — not just a playlist. I always work with couples and help bring their vision and intentions to life on the day event. This means communicating about your wedding plans way in advance of the big day. We always discuss musical preferences, dislikes, and how to fill out playlist ideas for your event.
Private East End Events (Summer Homes, Celebrations, Gatherings)
Private events on the North Fork, Shelter Island, and the Hamptons each have their own vibe, and I love adapting to them — from laid-back sunset cocktail hours to full-on dance parties overlooking the water.
I filter what I learn working venue dance floors and spaces and help craft a tailored experience for your gathering or celebration. The one constant and real art of successful private events is reading the social chemistry of the room — figuring out when to bring everyone together with something familiar, when to dig deeper for the music lovers, or when to just let the moment breathe.
I focus on building a soundtrack that matches the atmosphere, the setting, and the people in the room — something that feels both sophisticated and effortless. The goal is for the music to become part of the memory of the night without ever overshadowing it.
WEDDING AFTER PARTY
Don’t want the party to stop on your big day? Looking to really let loose after the big event? I’m always at the ready to DJ a wedding after party to keep the fun going into the night. My venue nightlife venue experience really help to bring this part of your wedding to life!
KARAOKE - TWO TURNTABLES/TWO MICROPHONES
A play off the iconic hip-hop reference, "two turntables and a microphone"- the originators of hip hop culture used the phrase - naming the only tools needed to rock a party all night
Two Turntables, Two Microphones is a brainchild of my love for DJing and meeting the demand for Karaoke nights.
The turntables lay down the intro for the night, allow me to mix in and out of spaces in the karaoke queue, and lets guests wrap up their night in their dancing shoes post sing session. The two microphones exists, of course, for the proper duet or simple moral support from your friends also singing along.
I bring out all the stops - I connect my DJ equipment, two professional Shure mics, and an always up to date Karaoke application on a 2nd computer to another audio mixer, as well as an HDMI signal splitter so that both the singer can see the lyrics on their personal screen, while the audience can sing along with the larger house TV setup behind the performer.
DJ sets before, between, and after singing keeps the party going like no other Karaoke night.
